Eventful Day...

Folks- I made one horrible mistake. I threatened all my family members last night that if anyone woke me this morning their life would be in serious danger. Of course that meant that I would DEFINITELY not get to sleep in. What was I thinking?!?!

This morning at 7:30 a.m. my sweet daughter comes in and "whispers" in her best whisper voice (which we all know was not a whisper) that there was bloody footprints all over the floor and she had investigated. (Doesn't that make you feel better?) Needless to say we hopped right up to confirm the investigation.

We did confirm the small person's testimony of blood throughout the house. We found that our poor cat, Audi, was indeed injured. Once we finally located her and managed to catch her (after a blood spattering chase) we attempted to clean the wound so we could see how bad it was. One thing was for sure- this angry, injured cat was going to have no part of our "cleaning." We quickly decided that a trip to the vet was in order.

We got a few clothes on besides our PJ's and headed to the local vet. The receptionist knew there was trouble as soon as we walked in the door with a cat wrapped up in a towel and crying. She also was very quick to tell us that they could not help us this morning due to their already packed schedule. However, she was kind enough to call a vet around the corner and see if they could help us.

We headed to the next vet and they took her back right away. As we filled out the necessary paperwork, Madgette told the entire story to the receptionist. We were ushered back to a room while they took an initial look at Audi, then they were kind enough to give us an estimate. While we were waiting my daughter filled my heart with amazement. She decides out of the blue to ask if we can pray for the cat. I answered, "of course" and we all gathered around and held hands. She took and deep breath and said, "I don't know what to say- anybody got anything?" I held my laughter and I prayed for us.

When it was all said and done we left the vet with Audi's leg all bandaged up and the hope that she would make it. After we got home Richard worked really hard to get all the blood cleaned up and was pretty successful. My BFF came over and we spent the entire rest of the day getting Queen B Designs up and running online.

We also finished a couple of dresses that we started last weekend. I must say we are impressed with ourselves- we actually finished them both. Even though someone may have forgotten to cut holes in the bottom of one of the dresses- we did not make the worlds largest tote bag. We made the corrections and finished them much to our delight.

We worked until after my normal bedtime before she finally decided that she had cracked the whip enough for one day. But we did get a lot accomplished towards our little business...

A busy day for sure, and I didn't do any of my real work that I should have done to get ready for the week, or catch up on any sleep but it was a great day with my family and best friend. I just hope my poor cat gets better soon!

Let's Go Astros!!!

So after work yesterday our family headed downtown to the Astros vs. Pirates game. I was really tired, but knew it would be a great way to start off the weekend and get my mind off work. There were people everywhere, and the pirates were warming up on the field when we got there. We had great seats- the eighth row right behind third base. Luckily, Carlos Lee was playing left field which made Madgette really happy since he is her absolute favorite player.
It was a great game to watch, but by the 7th inning we were starting to get a little nervous- the Astros were behind 1-0. In the eighth Carlos Lee came up to bat and hit a homerun, bringing in two runners and scoring the third run. It was awesome! I thought Madgette was going to lose her voice after all the screaming she did.
After the game was over there were the Friday night fireworks which are an event all to themselves. The roof is opened, Rock music starts blaring, and the fireworks begin. Some friends of ours and their 2 kids came over and sat with us during the fireworks. The little white/blond headed boy and the lady in the white shirt are them. It was so sweet- at one point I turned around and that adorable little fellow was laid back on his momma all cuddled up just enthralled with the fireworks. It was so sweet it made me think to take a picture even though I missed the best moment.
Ya know, there is just nothing like going to a major league ballpark and listening to the crowd, the vendors, the announcer, the balls hitting the gloves, the tap of the bat, and your family chattering around you to make you realize how much you have. We are definitely not the richest family as far as money goes, but we are rich in some many other ways! We are very blessed, even though we may not always feel like it...

Life this Week

This has been a rough week.
Madgette has been gone all week for the first real time. She had a blast- she won the camper of the week trophy, and when we picked her up the counselors told us she had been so sweet. She complimented every camper about something. They also said she never wined or complained. That made me very proud.
She was very happy to be home, and we were happy to have her!

The Razorback's dad is back in the hospital, and things aren't looking good. I just don't understand Cancer. Actually, I hate it. It took my mother before I was old enough to get to know her or remember her. There have been so many days in my life when I have wished she was there, or wondered what she would think about something. However, my friend Gancack (who I love with all my heart) got a clear checkup from her doctor. I am so glad she got a cancer-free report that every time I think about it I want to cry. I am sick of people I love being taken from me.

Anyway, the poor Razorback has had to deal with an emotional wife this week. That is definitely not the norm at our home! He has been an amazing man and let me cry on his shoulder (literally) and tried hard to just listen to me without trying to "fix it". I am so thankful God gave me this man as my husband. I love him more than I did when I married him 10 years ago, but it is a different kind of love. I appreciate him.

I am looking forward to the week ahead and pray that things will ease up in our world. I hope it gets better!
